The 2026 Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge is the third cycle of the national innovation competition made possible through Wells Fargo’s ongoing and generous support.
Round 1 of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge launched in April 2026 and attracted 871 applications from organizations across the country. Following a rigorous review process, 39 semifinalists were selected from this highly competitive pool to advance to Round 2.
Semifinalists selected to move on to the third and final round will compete for one of five $2 million grants, which will be awarded in winter 2027. Winners will also receive technical support from Enterprise and other housing industry leaders and join a peer cohort of past and current challenge winners from all three competitions since 2020.
